Earth Day Tips for a Green Home

Earth Day Tips for a Green Home

What is a Green Home?

The simple answer is a green home is one that has been built, remodeled, or retrofitted to meet higher standards than conventional construction, with the goal of achieving healthier, more resource-efficient, more cost-effective homes that enhance the lives and experiences the people who live in them.

Here are the three main types of recycling: mechanical, energy and chemical. Every single type is subdivided into minor categories but understanding them gives us a better idea of how the world processes most of its recyclables.

Energy Audits

An energy audit is an inspection and analysis of energy flows in a building with the objective of understanding the energy efficiency home or building being audited.

Smart Growth & Sustainable Development

"Smart growth" is development that is environmentally sensitive, economically viable, community-oriented, and sustainable. It is an approach to land use planning that promotes compact, transit-oriented urban communities that are attractive and livable.

Green Communities

The Green Communities program advances practices that improve environmental quality, address climate change, and reduce development impacts on natural resources. Research efforts focus on projects and policies that prioritize green/blue infrastructure, green energy, and green transportation.
